Orthognathic surgery is a surgery designed to align and reposition abnormal jaws along with the correction of the bite.

Who needs corrective jaw surgery?

Someone who has a severe skeletal malocclusion i.e abnormal bony structure of the jaws and an abnormal bite that cannot be compensated by orthodontics (braces) only. An abnormal bony framework of jaws can be esthetically unpleasant. Also an ankylosed or fused Temporomandibular joint (Jaw joint) can be managed by corrective jaw surgery.
